Located at an altitude of 2438 m above sea level, the valley has two beautiful rivers, The Dzukou and Japfu, running across its length. Yes, we are talking about India’s greatest outdoor musical festival- Ziro Festival of Music in Arunachal Pradesh. This year Root Bridge is adding the charm of Ziro Festival of Music clubbing it with a trek to mesmerising living Root Bridge’s of East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya.
The slogan of Ziro Festival of Music is Eat, Drink & Merry. The festival is exactly a meeting point of hundreds of music lovers across the world who love to eat , drink and merry. ZFM is an arcadia of music , nature and bonhomie. It showcases the independent music scene in India. The music is lined up with Folk Jazz artist, heavy metal bands, national blues bands and many a times International Bands. The festival is spread over four days and is hosted by members of the Apatani people in Ziro.
After the festival , we descent down to Guwahati and go on an adventure to Cherrapunjee, the second wettest place on earth. On the way we visit the Umiam Lake, a beautiful artificial water reservoir surrounded with lush green hills. Explore the magnificent caves of Arwah, cascading waterfalls of Cherrapunjee and trek down to the Double Decker Root Bridge, a bridge made by the local khasis using the roots of trees, inter-wined into a complex maize of strong rope
Mystical Kamakhya with Panoramic Meghalaya

This June, enjoy the magic of monsoon in the mystic wonderland called Northeast. Witness the famous festival of the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati – Ambubachi Mela, also known as Kumbh Mela of the East. It is believed that the goddess of the temple, Devi Kamakhya, goes through her annual cycle of menstruation during this time and the doors of the temple remains closed for three days and on the fourth day the devotees are allowed to enter the temple to worship the Mother Goddess.
The temple located atop Nilachal Hills in Guwahati wears a different look during the festival—similar to the famous Kumbh Mela as lakhs of devotees including Sadhus throng the temple during this period. The temple is also one of the four Adi Shakti Piths in India and is associated with Tantric Shakti cult prevalent in eastern parts of India. We take you further to chase the monsoon up in the hills of Meghalaya known as the ‘Abode of Clouds’ and to experience rain walks in enchanting land of Cherrapunjee where clouds sweep over the nearby hills. The trip also include treks amidst natural springs and to the living root bridges, which are unique to Meghalaya only!
